Collaborations

Connecting and collaborating with others is an important part of reaching more people and sharing information they may find helpful. It is also a way of expanding my own knowledge and experience as well as sharing space with remarkable people also dedicated to improving life on this planet for all living beings.

These are some of the inspiring folks I have the good fortune of collaborating with:

Robert Thurman

A recognized worldwide authority on religion and spirituality, Asian history, world philosophy, Buddhist science, Indo-Tibetan Buddhism, and His Holiness the Dalai Lama, Robert Thurman is an eloquent advocate of the relevance of Buddhist ideas to our daily lives. In doing so, he has become a leading voice of the value of reason, peace and compassion. He was named one of Time magazine’s 25 most influential Americans and has been profiled by The New York Times and People magazine, among many others. He has written, edited and translated many books on Tibetan Buddhism, and is the Je Tsongkhapa Professor of Indo-Tibetan Buddhist Studies at Columbia University, holding the first endowed chair in this field of study in the United States. In addition, he is the co-founder and president of Tibet House New York.

Embodied Philosophy

In a cultural climate exhibiting profound levels of anxiety and depression, stress and alienation, apathy and moral malaise, Embodied Philosophy recognizes the need for what we call embodied philosophical living. Embodied philosophy is not philosophy of the intellect alone, but is an integrated, non-dualistic living wisdom. It is a decision to live with mindfulness, insight, attention and intention – one day at a time. Drawing on the perennial wisdom of the wider yoga and wisdom traditions – largely from the East – they seek to prescribe practices, activities, and modes of living that actualize liberating patterns of thought and behavior. These new patterns break us out of the habits that continuously cause us pain and suffering and reorient our lives in empowering ways.

Gaden Shartse Dokhang Monastery

In recent years, the monks of Dokhang Khangtsen have experienced some difficulty and have lost their facilities, including their dorms and prayer hall. This has caused the monks of the house to be homeless, and forced them to find accommodations separately from each other after many years of communal living. In an effort to preserve Dokhang Khangtsen, His Holiness the Dalai Lama has helped secure a parcel of land for the monks to rebuild their facilities, and he has provided some seed money for the monks to travel to the US to continue raising funds for this very big project.
